Legacy Cemented
2000: Industry Recognition

Acknowledged as the inventor of the cold-air inflatable, Jim Thomson was the first man to put a fan to fabric, eliminating many of the problems associated with the original heavy rubber balloons. Thomson, the founder of Dynamic Displays, has been recognized by the Inflatable Advertising Dealers Association as the father of the cold air inflatable, and was inducted into their industry Hall of Fame in 2000.

Like Father, Like Son
2002: A New Era

Jim retired in 2002 at the age of 70 following 40 years of tremendous contributions to the festivals and events industry in Ontario and around the world. Dynamic Displays’ tradition of creativity is still alive today under the direction of Jim’s youngest son, Stephen Thomson. Thomson began working with his father right out of college in 1991. He worked in the production and design departments, managed the night shift and was Director of Operations for six years before taking the helm as president in 2003.

Made in Canada
2010: Olympic Dream

The Olympic Closing Ceremonies poked fun at a lot of stereotypically Canadian traits, featuring several inflatable beavers, among other home-cooked Canadian icons, like a couple of good-natured flying moose and a whole posse of mounties. Dynamic Displays made the inflatable beavers, Mounties and moose along with the hockey players.
